The South West Police Compassionate Fund is an independent charity, providing grants to our members and their families in times of ill health, bereavement and hardship. The charity was set up by D & C police officers, in 1968. Serving officers can become a member for £3.30 per month, and retiring members can retain membership from police pension.
Currently, all serving officers of Devon & Cornwall are eligible to join as a member of the fund. The charity is working hard to explore a trial scheme to offer membership to all D & C police staff.
The charity is reliant on support from our monthly membership donations, public donations and legacy gifts. Membership costs £3.30 per month from salary or police pension.
We have experience in supporting our members and their families, especially in times of ill health and bereavement.

Sadly, we are finding that many officers and staff do NOT have a valid will set up, and in these cases, dependents and common law partners are not provided for under standard UK law. Recent statistics estimate that for those living in ‘common law’ style relationships, less than 1 in 5 couples have drawn up a will. Many of these relationships have children, or adult children, often from differing relationships.
Our charity is pleased to offer ALL serving and retired officers and staff of D & C the option of a free will writing service, available from Kingsman*.
South West Police Compassionate Fund are pleased to support this free will writing service, and we would urge you to take advantage of this offer. Of course we welcome any donations, or legacy gifts, however we would prefer to encourage all officers to join as a member of the fund. This supports our charity, and can provide support for members and their dependents in difficult times.

We are pleased to announce that the South West Police Compassionate Fund has partnered with Kingsman Associates, a preferred and trusted provider of Wills, Trusts, and Lasting Powers of Attorney.
Kingsman Associates has agreed to offer serving officers and staff, as well as all retired police officers of Devon and Cornwall Police, a FREE Single or Mirror Will. Why is it FREE? Kingsman believes that everyone should be entitled to a FREE Will and works closely with public sector organisations, including South Wales Police Federation, Gwent Police Federation, Dyfed Powys Police Federation and Gloucestershire Police Federation, to offer such services.
You can scan the QR code or click the link below to claim your FREE Will. Consultations can be conducted either virtually or face-to-face, depending on your preference.
*In addition to the FREE Will service, Kingsman also offer Will Planning options covering the use of Trusts. All Trust planning and Lasting Power of Attorney services are chargeable. These services are available with a 12-month interest-free payment plan, making it easier to spread the cost if needed.
Paul, Tony, Emma and the wider team at Kingsman will be pleased to hear from you and look forward to meeting with you in the coming months.
